The funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Verne will begin at noon on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in DePue. Rev. Fortunatus Rwehikiza will officiate. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in Spring Valley with graveside military rites by the Peru Memorial Group. Visitation for Verne will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:50 AM at St. Mary's Church in DePue. The Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley is honored to be assisting the family. Verne was born on August 17, 1925 in Princeton to Julius and Hazel (Fredrickson) Petersen. He married Dorothy Yuvan on October 19, 1946, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in DePue. Dorothy preceded him in death on April 1, 2014. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DePue, he had served as a trustee of the church for years, a member of the DePue V.F.W
