Born on March 3, 1936, in Princeton, IL, to the late Forrest and Nessie Nordstrom, he was the oldest of six siblings. He graduated in 1957. On June 26, 1955, he married Judith Brown at St. Matthews Lutheran Church. They would start their family and live in Princeton, sharing over 68 years of marriage. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957, then in the Marine Corps Reserves from 1957 to 1962, and he was honorably discharged and he received the Medal of Good Conduct. Donald worked initially for LCN in the Tool Room from 1957 to 1969. Subsequently, he founded his own businesses, Jobco of Princeton, IL, and Gulf States Door Controls of Rockwall, TX.
